処刑台の上でエラ・ウォーカーは己の半生を振り返る。王子ジルとの婚約を義妹イザベラ・ウォーカーに譲るようにと破棄させられ、腐り切っていた僻地に左遷され、挙句の果てにはその地で起こった暴動の責を問われて処刑されてしまう。

誰も味方がいなかった絶望感を抱えたまま処刑されてしまうエラだったが、どういうわけか10年前の過去へと逆行転生をしてしまう。
やり直しの機会を得たエラは決意する。今世こそは何にも縛られずに生きてみせる、と。
そのために自ら王子ジルの婚約者の座をイザベラに譲り、腐り切る前の僻地の領主として改革を次々と成功させ、今度こそ前世とは違う幸せな人生を送り始めた。
しかし、運命の断頭台はエラの首筋から離れようとはせず、様々な困難の刃を彼女へと突き立てる。

果たしてエラは迫り来る処刑の運命から逃れ、幸せを掴むことができるのか……?
